On Friday, President Barack Obama  announced $2.3 billion in tax credits for 183 ventures to build advanced batteries, wind turbines and other clean energy technology products nationwide.  Eight projects in Texas were selected to receive a portion of the tax credits.

Among them are, Roller Bearing Co. of America, which can claim $4.2 million for a facility in Houston to produce wind turbine blades and bearings.  Ringdale which is based in Georgetown claim $450,000 for its plans to purchase equipment to expand production of more efficient commercial LED lighting and advanced lighting control technology.  Also qualifying was Cooper Power Systems, which may receive $495,510 to defray costs of building a facility in Nacogdoches to produce electrical transformers with more efficient amorphous steel cores.
