The Nevada legislature passed two new bills that benefit solar energy.  These bills have now been signed into law by the Nevada Governor.  SB 358 adds to renewable eneregy goals for the state; more specifically, SB 358 mandates that Nevada’s investor-owned utility source at least 25% of its energy from renewable energy projects by the year 2025; the prior requirement was 20% by the year 2015.  SB 358 also mandates that 6% of the new RPS requirement be sourced from solar energy projects; this new solar requirement begins in 2016; the prior requirement was 5%.  AB 522 provides tax abatement benefits for renewable energy projects larger than 10 MW in size.   Read Reuters Article
