PROPOSED LEGISLATION WOULD OFFER INCENTIVES FOR GREEN RENOVATIONS

Representative Joe Straus (R-San Antonio) has filed a bill that would provide state tax breaks for commercial building renovations that meet energy-efficiency standards. The proposal is to refund sales taxes imposed on building repair and remodeling services to meet the Energy Star standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. To qualify, a facility must consume at least 25 percent less energy in the 12-month period after the completion of the repairs or remodeling.  See artilce at
